Training & Personal Training
Do 90% of people quit the gym after 3 months?
Research suggests that many people do drop off within the first few months — usually because they lack structure, accountability, or a plan that fits their lifestyle. At The Fitness Space by Zak, we design personalised programs that keep you consistent and motivated well beyond that 3-month mark.
What is the best time to go to the gym?
Like most gyms, the busiest and most popular time is early morning — between 5:30am and 10am — when people tend to be most motivated and fresh for the day ahead. Things quiet down mid-morning through to about 4pm, then pick up again in the early evening, roughly 4pm to 6:30pm. That said, the best time is still whichever one you can actually show up to consistently — our flexible sessions are built to fit around your schedule.
At what age do most people stop exercising?
It’s less about a specific age and more about life getting busier — kids, work, relationships, even getting a dog can all quietly push exercise down the priority list. People don’t usually stop because of age itself, it’s that nothing’s forcing them to keep training a priority once life gets full. The ones who stick with it long-term are the ones who make training with a personal trainer non-negotiable, whatever stage of life they’re in.
Is paying for a personal trainer worth it?
Yes — especially if you’re over 40. A lot of my clients are in their 40s, 50s and 60s, and the real value of a personal trainer at that age isn’t just motivation, it’s training safely. Many come to me already carrying an old injury, or nervous about getting hurt trying something new on their own. Having someone monitor your form and adjust the program around you means real accountability and results, without the injury risk of guessing your way through it alone.
How long should you use a personal trainer?
It genuinely depends on your goals — but the honest answer is that the best long-term results come from clients who make training a permanent part of their life, not a short-term fix. I’ve got clients I’ve been training for 10, 12, even 15 years, and it shows: real muscle definition, consistent training, no injuries, and training has become a life priority — staying fit, building muscle, staying strong for the long haul. Some people work with us short-term to build a solid foundation and then continue on their own; others prefer the ongoing accountability and structure long-term. Either way, we’ll help you figure out what actually fits your goals and your life.
Nutrition Coaching
Is it better to see a dietitian or a nutritionist?
A dietitian is clinically trained and often works in medical settings, while a nutrition coach focuses on practical, sustainable lifestyle changes around food and habits. If you’re looking for real-world guidance on eating better and feeling good — a nutrition coach in Randwick like Zak is a great starting point.
Should I trust a nutritionist’s advice?
Yes — as long as they’re qualified and take a real, personalised approach. My style is no-BS: most people already know what they should be doing, they’re just not actioning it. A nutritionist with a holistic approach to eating and coaching can be a genuine game changer — not because you’re being told secrets, but because you get the accountability and support to actually follow through. That’s exactly what nutrition coaching here is built around.
