Protein-rich foods arranged around a flexed arm outline, representing nutrition coaching from a qualified nutritionist in Maroubra

The short answer: I am Zak, a qualified nutritionist at The Fitness Space, Shop 2, 116 Boyce Road, Maroubra Junction. Your first nutrition session is $199 and follow-ups are $90 for 30 minutes. Sessions can be in person or online.

The only personal trainer and qualified nutritionist in Maroubra and the Eastern Suburbs

If you are looking for a nutritionist in Maroubra, I help people improve body composition through sound exercise and nutrition. I have been a qualified nutritionist for over 13 years (over 20 years combined with personal training), I hold an Advanced Diploma in Nutritional Medicine, and I am registered with the Australian Traditional-Medicine Society (ATMS). I combine a holistic approach to food with a gym-based background. I take the guesswork out of getting results, with a no-nonsense approach.

Nutritionist, not dietitian: what that means for you

I am a qualified nutritionist, not a dietitian. I work with healthy adults on weight loss, building muscle, energy and eating habits that fit a busy life. If you have a medical condition that needs dietitian-level care, I will tell you straight away and work alongside your GP or dietitian rather than guess. The Australian Dietary Guidelines set the national baseline for healthy eating; my job is to make that specific to you.

What you get when you see a nutritionist at The Fitness Space

  • Initial consultation. In person or online, I find out what you want and how you live, then build a plan around you.
  • Personalised macronutrient plan. A protein, carbohydrate and fat breakdown based on your individual needs.
  • Calorie assessment that includes your training. Your daily energy needs, taking your activity level and any training you already do into account.
  • Interactive tracking sheet. A real-time shared Google document, so we can both watch your progress and adjust quickly.
  • Measurements. Girth measurements and body fat percentage, so we track real change and not just the scale.

The five problems a Maroubra nutritionist sees most

Most people are not struggling because they do not care. Modern life makes it hard to eat well consistently. These are the patterns I see again and again, and every one is fixable:

  • Portion confusion. Good food, wrong amounts. I teach simple visual cues rather than obsessive counting.
  • Skipping meals, then overeating. Under-eating all day leads to a blood sugar crash and a huge dinner. A steady rhythm fixes most of it.
  • Emotional or habitual eating. Stress, boredom and tiredness drive a lot of eating. We look at your habits and triggers without judgement.
  • No structure. Toast for dinner and takeaway on repeat. A simple framework makes good choices the easy ones.
  • Not knowing your macros. Protein at every meal, whole-food carbs and healthy fats take you a long way before you track a single gram. Curious what tracking involves? Read what tracking your macros actually involves.

Nutritionist questions answered

Are you a nutritionist or a dietitian?

I am a qualified nutritionist, not a dietitian. I work with healthy adults on weight loss, building muscle, energy and day-to-day eating habits. If you have a medical condition that needs a dietitian, I will tell you, and I am happy to work alongside your GP or dietitian.

How much does a nutritionist cost in Maroubra?

Your first nutrition session is $199 and each follow-up session is $90 for 30 minutes. There is also a nutrition intro offer at $265 that includes a personalised macronutrient plan, a food plan and a progress tracking sheet.

Can I see you online?

Yes. The initial consultation can be in person at Maroubra Junction or online, and the tracking sheet we use together is a shared Google document, so we can both see your progress in real time.

Do I have to train with you to see you for nutrition?

No. Nutrition is its own service, so you can book a one-off consultation or a block of sessions without training at the studio. If you do train with me, your food and training work as one plan.

What happens in the first session?

I find out what you want, how you eat now and how you train. Then I set up your macronutrient targets, assess your daily calorie needs around your activity levels, take girth measurements and your body fat percentage, and set up your tracking sheet.

How long before I see results?

Most people notice changes in energy, cravings and eating patterns within the first few sessions. I am not after a quick fix. The aim is a rhythm you can keep for good.
