Every small group session at my Maroubra studio has a maximum of six people. I chose that cap on purpose, and here is why.
It stays as close to one-on-one as possible
Small group training should feel like personal training with company, not a class where you are one face in a crowd. At six people, I can still give each person real attention during a session. That is the whole point of choosing a small group over a big one.
It is easier for me to monitor everyone
My job in a session is to watch how people move, correct what needs correcting and adjust things as we go. The more people in the room, the more that gets missed. Keeping the group to six means I can see each person, not just the loudest or the one I happen to be standing near.
The space gives more to the client
With six people, everyone has room to train properly, use the equipment they need and move without queuing or tripping over each other. A smaller group in the same space means a better session for each person in it.
It is better value for the client
A small group session is $48 for a one-hour session, all prices including GST, compared with $110 for a 45-minute one-on-one session. At that price, you want your hour to be coaching, not waiting for your turn. Capping the group is how I make sure what you pay for is what you get.
It is my choice
The cap is not a rule I was handed. It is my choice as the owner, because it is the way I think the session gives the client the most. I would rather keep it at six and run it properly.
